Sony announces ?God of War,? ?Infamous? collections

God of War Saga

God of War Saga

Sony has released the box art for the first three of what it is calling its ?Collection? line, all due Aug. 28 for the PlayStation 3. While we knew one of them was coming soon, the other two hadn?t been confirmed before now.

Leading the pack is ?God of War Saga,? a $39.99 collection of all five (for now) games starring the Spartan general Kratos. It?s a rather busy collection:

  • God of War I & II (the HD revamps from the ?God of War Collection?)
  • God of War III
  • God of War Origins (the HD revamps of the two PSP titles)
  • Exclusive bonus content
  • A free one-month trial of PlayStation Plus
  • Trophy support

If you don?t have your PS3 connected to the Internet, the deal becomes slightly less appealing as the ?God of War Origins? content comes in the form of a voucher to be used to download it from the PlayStation Store. On the positive side, the two ?God of War Origins? games do come with support for 3D TVs.

Infamous Collection

The other previously unannounced title is the ?Infamous Collection,? also $40. This package includes both Infamous and Infamous 2, as well as ?Infamous: Festival of Blood,? the standalone DLC that dealt with the hypothetical question: what would happen if electrically-powered superhero Cole MacGrath were turned into a vampire?

The PlayStation Blog says the package will also include ?extra missions? created by developer Sucker Punch, most likely using the content-generation tools that came with ?Infamous 2.? You also get ?additional character costumes, power ups and weapon styles,? which sounds like the nickel-and-dime DLC that was released for the second game. The package art also promises support for the Move controller, but that applies only to Infamous 2; the original game is still Move-less.

Ratchet & Clank Collection

The third and final game of this initial wave of Collections is the $30 ?Ratchet & Clank Collection,? which pulls together all three of the action-platformers starring the Lombax mechanic and his robot friend.

  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
  • Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
  • Full 1080p visuals
  • Trophy support
  • 3D support for all 3 games (in 720p only)
  • A demo for the upcoming ?Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time?

Back on the PlayStation 2, ?R&C: Up Your Arsenal? was one of the rare titles that supported the Network Adapter for online competitive play; thanks to new network code, the new ?Up Your Arsenal? will support the feature as well.
