The 23-year old daughter of John Force, NHRA funny car racing legend, defeated Bob Tasca III with a run of 309.27 at 4.2 seconds. Despite having the initial lead, Tasca lost traction on the remaining 1,000-foot drag strip allowing Courtney Force to take the reins of victory. "I was nervous going up there to the starting line,? says Force. "I was just holding on the whole time hoping [the car] would go and it did.?
John Force, meanwhile is doing great as well. Recently coming off his 134th career Funny Car victory at the season opening O?Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals, ?It?s a great start,? the 62-year-old Force said. ?You really want to perform. I know all those other kids on our teams and others, like Cruz Pedregon, the Schumacher teams, (Tim) Wilkerson, and (Bob) Tasca, those guys are going to win races, and it was just nice to get a win under my belt.Those boys are bad out there.
To make that top 10 is going to be tough. Somebody?s going to be left out, so I?m just going to keep fighting and keep my nose clean.?The father and girls and cars relationship proved strong. However, Courtney?s fate was sealed by a loss to Mike Neff while father Force defeated his daughter?s rival Alexis DeJoria, Tim Wilkerson and Gary Densham to advance to the final round. But for Courtney, coming and making a few waves at the Winternationals was beyond her expectations, "I didn?t picture [going] this far into Sunday," she said. "This weekend is going way better than I expected."
