CONAKRY, Guinea (AP) ? Guinea's government swears in most members of the country's new electoral commission after opposition complaints delayed the ceremony.
On Thursday, 23 of the commission's 25 members took the oath of office to join the commission, whose composition has been a source of tension in this West African country.
Disagreements over the electoral process have prompted violent protests and made it impossible for the country to hold legislative elections.
The opposition had planned to boycott, but spokesman Aboubacar Sylla said Thursday that most members were sworn in. The opposition plans to challenge the selection of its final member in court.
Opposition activists say that if the court does not hear their appeal, they will call for a protest march. Previous opposition marches have clashed with security forces.
